Step 3

Assuming you are ready to start, let's review what needs to be done before the neighborhood meeting.

First, you need to figure out your neighborhood boundaries. Recommendations for this are: 20-25 homes for urban areas, 5-6 homes in rural areas. In 'vertical neighborhoods' of apartments or condos, you may want to organize by floor or building. Still try to keep to 25 maximum households.

You may already know what boundaries to use. If not, go out and walk the neighborhood (or do it virtually online). Sketch or digitally capture the boundaries you intend to use.

Select the 'successful' response when you are done.

Step 4

Once you have a map, include house or unit numbers, and names of neighbors that you already know. Hopefully you will get to know the names of the other neighbors during this process!

Select 'successful' when you have completed this task.

Step 5

Next, determine when and where you will hold the meeting. Remember that it is best to hold the meeting at a home (not a school or other public facility).

If you are holding the meeting in a place with limited seating, remember to ask at least some people to bring their own chairs.

Select 'successful' when you have completed this task.
